Grantland Rice

Vanmorgen in de Volkskrant wordt een strofe uit een gedicht van Grantland Rice geciteerd. Het citaat staat in een uitgebreid stuk over het EK voetbal.  In 1941 schreef Rice in zijn gedicht ‘Alumnus Football’ :

To mark against your name

He writes – not that you won or lost-

But how you played the game
