E.E. Cummings

Nog maar een gedicht van een bijzondere dichter E.E. Cummings

Ik had weer eens zin in een mooi gedicht van de Amerikaanse dichter E.E. Cummings (1894-1962).

.

I like mybody when it’s with your

body. It isso quite new a thing.

Musclesbetter and nerves more.

I like yourbody. I like what it does,

I like itshows. I like to feel the spine

of yourbody and it’s bones, and the trembling

-firm-smooth ness and which I will

again andagain and again

kiss, Ilike kissing this and that of you,

I like, slowly stroking the, shocking fuzz

of yourelectric fur, and what-is-it comes

overparting flesh…. And eyes big love-crumbs

Andpossibly I like the thrill

of under me you so quite new

.

For whom it may concern…

Elegy or eulogy?

I lament thedays to come

they’re empty and look

so useless without

your words they moved

my view of things and

anointed the way

I look towards life

and living in a broad

perspective it seems

in vain, so now all

that’s left are forgotten

words memories of

brightness and a

sun that fades into

an ocean of emptiness

no flowers please

acquisitions are not

appreciated
